Why can the religious get away with saying whatever they want but non believers can't?

non believers have to tread very lightly as to not upset the religious with their cruel and insane beliefs as we don't get the majority and we are the ones that aren't whipping women to death, blowing ourselves up, blowing up abortion clinics, using fear to make kids believe in what we believe, discriminating against different ethnicities and sexual orientations. we're the ones who are calm and not having a go at everyone but weare deemed as the irrational people and can't express our beliefs without being told we are gonna get killed or go to hell. we are the peaceful ones that aren't attacking everyone who's different to us and acting incredibly irrationally but we just get ignored when we can accept people for who they are and not have to threaten them. why is this?
