Paying for install of car stereo worth it?

How easy is it to install a car stereo? I've got a 97 grand am. Im going to buy a dash kit and wire harness with the stereo from Future shop. They charge $69 to install it, but is it worth it? What would I be getting myself into if I did it myself and what tools/materials would I need?
